SWZ Weekboek

SWZ weekboek

People with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), usually have problems with everyday activities, due to psychological, physical and behavioral changes after their injury.

Our client, the SWZ center, provides activities for people with ABI to help maintain their abilities. Because of Corona, patients had to stay home, demotivating them to engage in activities.

The SWZ center requires an update to their day planning system. We designed SWZ weekboek to provide structure and motivation. The book contains a personalized schedule updated by the caregivers, where patients see their week’s planning in advance and visualize information about upcoming activities. To provide additional motivation, on the front cover and by clicking on the ongoing activity, users can see a visualization of other patients and caregivers utilizing the book, represented by interactive bubbles on the screen. Moreover, when the center reopens, this book could serve as a smarter way to provide information and structure.

This is the main project of my second year Industrial Design at the TU/e. Usually these projects end halfway in the academic year, but our client wanted to take the design a step further and extend the design process. Amongst regular design-thinking through quick prototyping and sketching, I have focused mostly on combining technology, 3D modelling and user-centered design. For the remainder of the project, I am working on testing the weekboek within in a user-study of a whole week. Where we will provide clients with our functioning prototype.
